ISO 9001 has been the most popular quality management standard used for certification by companies on a global basis. As per the latest survey (1) performed by ISO, the number of certificates for ISO 9001 in the Year 2021 was 1,077,884.
Over the years, another interesting trend is that ISO 9001 has been evolving into certain sector-specific standards and guidelines to fulfil the needs of specific industries. Some of these sector-specific standards like IATF 16949 for automotive industry and AS 9100 for aerospace industry are quite well known. On the other hand, some of the sector-specific standards and guidelines, based on ISO 9001, which are lesser-known, but are highly useful and value-adding, are given here:

Electoral Organizations: ISO/TS 54001:2019: Requirements for implementation of ISO 9001:2015 for electoral organizations at various levels of Government.
