For the above-mentioned question, CMMI Consultants may take inputs from the following:

Service System Transition (SST) process area helps in planning and deploying new or updated service system components, at the same managing their effect on ongoing service delivery. SST covers both new components as well as updates to existing components.

Activities

Service System Transition covers following activities of the transitioning, including

  • Planning of the transitioning
  • Communicating about the transition to relevant stakeholders
  • Managing the transition
  • Deploying the transition
  • Confirming that transition to the delivery environment is effective

Inputs

Following are some examples of input to the Service System Transition:

  • Service Request for New installation, Replacement or Retirement

Outputs

Outputs created during the implementation of the Service System Transition activities are as under:

  • Analysis report on compatibility of pre and post service system components
  • Transition issues and Risk List
  • Service System Transition Plan
  • Services Transition Notification Strategy
  • Services Transition Training Strategy
  • Installation records
  • Post Deployment Evaluation Report

The above is not an exhaustive coverage of the Service System Transition (SST) CMMI Process Area but is substantive enough to create a good foundation of the Service System Transition process in an organization.
