Whenever a CMMI Consultant, undertakes the CMMI Consulting Assignment, it does happen that many risks are associated with the CMMI Appraisal Project. CMMI Consultants can face Risks related to People, Risks related to Training, Risks Related to Metrics and Risks related to Environment, etc. For a CMMI Consultant, Risks related People are the most difficult to handle because these are concerned with human behavior. There is immense lack of attitude as well as knowledge in understanding the processes. People holding responsible positions have very little inclination towards unlearning and relearning the ways of implementing the processes. CMMI Consultants have also encountered Risks related to training. Training is given at the time of induction but since nothing is implemented, the associates get a thermal shock. The effect of this is that the CMMI Implementation Program in the real sense is derailed. CMMI Consultant encounter Risks related to Metrics as well. Lack of availability of real data is the main issue most of the times. CMMI Consultants have also encountered Risks related to Environment. People are not aware of the rigorous SCAMPI Assessment Processes. All the afore-mentioned risks can be easily handled through systematic Risk Mitigation Program.
