Having right processes and having them complaint to the targeted CMMI Maturity Level are two different things. Most of the IT organizations have the required processes to suit their day to day activities and covering all phases of project life-cycle. But they are not sure about the compliance status of the processes with respect to the compliance status to the targeted maturity level.
Process Compliance is required to ensure that the effort spent on the implementation of these processes is going in the right direction and leading organization towards their targeted Maturity Level. If the processes are not compliant then it can mean different thing to different organizations and the end result may lead to the unsuccessful SCAMPI A Assessments for some.
Now the question comes that how do one be sure that the processes are compliant and sufficient for the targeted Maturity Level. Most obvious solution is the “GAP Assessment†that is conducted to identify the compliance status of the processes. The reference document in this case is the Model/Standard against which we are testing the compliance. Internal Quality Team can conduct such assessment and find out the strength, non-compliance and improvement points.
If you do not have the required skill-set to conduct or are not sure about the quality of finding then DQS India can provide its services for the “Process Gap Assessment†and provide you a detailed report containing existing strengths, noncompliances and improvement points to make your processes compliant to the desired Maturity Level. We can also provide support to let you fill the gaps identified in the report.
