CMMI Lead Appraisers are the authorised (by CMMI Institute) personnel to provide the ratings for Process Area Ratings to an organization after conducting the formal SCAMPI Assessment (A, B or C). Selecting them for your SCAMPI Assessment could be the tedious task for you. Selecting the CMMI Lead Appraisers (Assessor) takes into account the various parameters. In this post, we will discuss some of these deciding parameters.

Required Qualification

First and foremost important factor is the check for Qualification required for you SCAMPI Assessment. If your organization is going for High Maturity Assessment (CMMI Maturity Level 4 or 5), then you must check the Qualification of the appraisers and make sure that the Appraiser has acquired the CMMI High Maturity Qualification from CMMI Institute, which makes him eligible to conduct the assessment.

Costing

Before going for assessment you should check and confirm the total costing for the SCAMPI Assessment with the Appraiser. There are various costing involved with the Assessment including costing for the trave, accommodation, team, training. These costing should also be decided and agreed between both of you.

Professional Experience

You can filter the results and can use your browser’s FIND facility to search the name of the appraiser to see the details.

Client References

You can ask CMMI Appraiser for client’s references from appraiser’s past assignments.  And CMMI Appraiser will not be reluctant in providing similar clients references to you. And if he is reluctant to provide such references it would be better for you to avoid him.

Once you have references you can confirm with them about satisfaction level of the services received from the same. After your satisfaction with the references, you can initiate working with the appraiser.
