Coding is the most important activity for the SDLC. And for many developers it is the only activity that they are responsible for. But why do we need to have quality in coding, when developers can fix the code that they develop. The answer to this lies in the fact that fixing a code is a very costly activity and costs millions of dollars to IT organizations every year. It also has many side effects like delay in delivery (schedule variance), effort variance, cost variance, more review effort, more defects etc.
There are many different criteria for judging a Code quality including functionality, readability, size of the program, execution time, memory consumption, etc.

It is recommended to use an automated code quality evaluation tool so that the quality of code is automatically evaluated.
As a developer or project manager you can consider the factors listed above to improve the code quality.
