The next generation of CMMI Model, known as CMMI Version 2.0, will be launched in March 2018. The first model that will be launched in March 2018 will be for CMMI-DEV. Along-with the launch of the CMMI-DEV Version 2.0, the release of supporting materials like updated appraisal method, new training courses and adoption guides will also be released.

The major highlights of the CMMI V2.0 will be:

1. Simplification of model to reduce redundancies.
2. Links/references to external material to provide context and in-depth referencing to knowledge material.
3. Evolutionary practices within the model leading to improvement
4. New and refined appraisal model
5. Online access of the model with the help of navigational tool.

Organizations currently using CMMI for Development V1.3 may start getting geared up for upgrading their systems to Version 2.0 as soon as the adoption guidance will be available for CMMI Version 2.0 from the CMMI Institute by the end of March 2018. At this point in time, these are moments filled with excitement in anticipation of the new launch. Good luck.
