For the above-mentioned question, CMMI Consultants may take inputs from the following:

Organizational Process Definition (OPD) process area provides guidance on setting up the process assets (QMS) at organizational level including related artifacts like work environment standards, guiles for teams etc.

Activities

Organizational Process Definition involves the following activities

  • Develop processes (QMS) as per the organizational needs
  • Add Lifecycle Model description to the QMS
  • Defining Tailoring Criteria and Guidelines
  • Storing Organizational Measurement/Metrics
  • Developing the Organization’s Process Asset Library
  • Developing the Work Environment Standards
  • Developing the Rules and Guidelines for Teams

Inputs

Following are some examples of input to the Organizational Process Definition:

  • Need of organizational QMS with relevant artifacts
  • Lessons learnt collected from different projects over a period of time
  • Risk Database
  • Estimation Database
  • Incident, Issue and Problems log

Outputs

Outputs created during the implementation of the Organizational Process Definition activities are as under:

  • QMS as per the organizational needs
  • Lifecycle Model descriptions
  • Tailoring Criteria and Guidelines
  • Organizational Measurement/Metrics repository
  • Process Asset Library
  • Work Environment Standards
  • Rules and Guidelines for Teams

The above is not an exhaustive coverage of the Organizational Process Definition (OPD) CMMI Process Area but is substantive enough to create a good foundation of the Organizational Process Definition process in an organization.
