For the above-mentioned question, CMMI consultants may take inputs from the following.

Purpose of CMMI Process Area Verification (VER) is to ensure that selected work products meet their specified requirements. Verification ensures that “you built it right”.

During verification different activities are conducted including verification of the product and intermediate work products against all selected requirements. These requirements includes customer, product, and product component requirements.

An important technique of verification is Peer reviews. Peer reviews are a proven mechanism for effective defect removal in early stages of the development instead of them removing in the testing.

Following are some of the inputs for the CMMI – Verification Process Area:

  • Software code modules
  • Requirements Traceability Table/Matrix
  • Software Requirement Specifications (SRS) / Non Functional Requirements
  • Work products selected for verification
  • Verification methods for each selected work product
  • Verification Environment

Following are some of the outputs for CMMI – Verification Process Area:

  • Verification Results / Verification sheet with actual verification results
  • Verification Defects Reports
  • Updated Traceability Matrix

The above is not an exhaustive coverage of the Verification (VER), CMMI Process Areas but is substantive enough for CMMI Consultants to create a good foundation of the Verification process in an organization.
