Why CMMI?

Most of our prospects clients ask this question to us. They feel anxiety of “Why they should go with CMMI at all?” as there are many other Quality Standards and Framework available in the market and some of them are still using ISO 9001 Quality Management System. To understand this let us see “What is CMMI?” and “How adoption of CMMI can help the organization?”.

What is CMMI?

CMMI is collection of best practices rather than just text of a Standard, Model or Framework. It guides organization in implementing best practices in their day to day activities and also in the long term strategic planning. These practices were collected over a period of more than 20 years by different organizations and put forward in this model. Your organization can use these best practices to develop organizational processes and then implement these practices in your work. CMMI does not put restriction on selection of a particular method, tool, technology or methodology to implement these practices. You are free to use automation as much as possible to achieve the output required by these best practices.

How adoption of CMMI can help the organization?

Implementation of these practices over a period of time leads to the stability of processes and their output and after a good number of implementations you can try optimising output from these processes. This provides savings in terms of time, effort and money to generate the same (and improved) output.

What type of Organizations can be benefitted from CMMI?

With the development of three CMMI Models namely CMMI for Development, CMMI for Services and CMMI for Acquisition, almost any type of organization can take benefit from the implementation of CMMI Best practices related to their work. They can adopt the most suited Model for their requirements and starts implementing it and finally go for Assessment.
