CMMI Institute Lead Appraiser Path as a Career: We received the following questions regarding CMMI Lead Appraiser Certification from a candidate interested in pursuing CMMI Lead Appraiser Certification as a career: Question: What are the steps for becoming a CMMI Institute Lead Appraiser:

CMMI FAQ 0

8th September, 2015

Answer: The steps for CMMI Institute Lead Appraiser-ship are available at the following link at the CMMI Institute Website:

http://cmmiinstitute.com/certifications/scampi-lead-appraiser-dev#how-to-get-certified

The cost can be calculated on the basis of each of the steps given as the cost is mentioned transparently for each item on the CMMI Institute website.

Regarding the observation, the cost has to be calculated on the basis of days of observation and point to point travel (I think it is business class), this is also a major cost.

Question: In terms of Career Progress and Personal Growth, how beneficial is to have this certification under your name? What opportunities does it provide/open?

Answer: This definitely is a good certification to have in your name. As a quality professional, the ultimate you can aim for is a V.P. (Quality) in some large organization. There are rare chances that you can be a CEO or CTO (It is possible, if you are exceptional, but I haven’t seen it happening very often). Other option is that you take the entrepreneurial route and become a quality or process improvement consultant on your own. You can also be a Process Improvement or Quality Consultant in a Consulting Firm but such organizations are not of good size and ultimately you have to break out separately on your own. Hence having this certification is good for a candidate.

Question: Is this kind of investment beneficial? What would you recommend?

Answer: Investment is beneficial but the goal cannot be achieved in a short term. It has to be a long-term career goal

Question: Is it necessary that we have to travel out of India for these courses? Are there no institutions in India that provide similar services?

Answer: Sometimes, these programs are organized in India. But that is rare. Mostly, one has to travel abroad.
