For the above-mentioned question, CMMI consultants may take inputs from the following.

Purpose of CMMI Process Area Quantitative Project Management (QPM) is to manage project quantitatively, so that project could achieve the object8ves selected for quality as well as quantitative process performance. This gives management a clear and precise insight into the project performance.

Quantitative Project Management (QPM) process area helps in:

  • Establishing the project’s objectives in quantitative terms
  • Decomposing the defined process into sub-processes
  • Selecting the applicable sub-processes and attributes
  • Selecting measures and analytic techniques like Regression Equation, Monte Carlo Simulation etc.
  • Quantitatively manage the project using different statistical analysis techniques
  • Monitoring the performance of selected sub-processes and their attributes
  • Managing the project performance
  • Conducting Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to identify the causes of variation

Following are some of the inputs for the CMMI – QPM Process Area:

  • Need to have better control over project performance
  • Organizational Objectives
  • Quantitative Goals
  • Process and Sub-Processes

Following are some of the outputs for CMMI – QPM Process Area:

  • Project’s quantitative objectives
  • Process and sub-processes mapping
  • Training on Measures and Analytic techniques like Regression Equation, Monte Carlo Simulation etc.
  • Quantitative performance monitoring status reports
  • Evidence of managing the project performance
  • Root Cause Analysis (RCA)

The above is not an exhaustive coverage of the Quantitative Project Management (QPM) CMMI Process Area but is substantive enough for CMMI Consultants to create a good foundation of quantitative project management in an organization.
