Most of the organizations around the world are achieving CMMI Maturity Level2 or Maturity Level3. There is no step by step guide to achieve that applies equally to all companies to achieve CMMI High Maturity i.e. CMMI ML4 or CMMI ML5. Achieving CMMI High Maturity is something that relatively requires more effort and expertise and organizations in the absence of the required expertise tends to loose the focus from CMMI High Maturity like CMMI Maturity Level 4.
When organizations achieve CMMI ML3, which means that have processes that are defined, tailored for individual projects from a common set of standard organizational processes. They observe improved process performance over a period of time.
Now moving towards CMMI ML4, quality and process performance objectives are expected to be quantitatively predictable and managed. CMMI ML4 requires that organizations should establish Process Performance Baselines (PPB) and Process Performance Models (PPM). This requires use of Statistical Tools (like Minitab, Crystal Ball etc.) to manage the Processes in terms of Sub-Processes. Performance of these selected Sub-Processes is understood, predicted, controlled and managed throughout the project life cycle. The selected Processes and Sub-Processes are derived from the Organizational Business Goals.
DQS India, an authorised SEI Partner (now CMMI Institute), has conducted various Implementations and Assessments for CMMI High Maturity.
